With this one, I always head for ‘Morning Song’. It has a cheery, upbeat glow to it, with the pause for breath halfway giving the ending all the more optimistic energy.

Stand-Out Track: Morning Song
A number 1 album for Faithless in 2004, which typified all their previous work and built on it too, bringing a companion instrumental album (Everything Will Be Alright Tomorrow – see 1st April) and dance music to play loud!
Stand-Out Track: Miss U Less, See U More
If ever there was an album that grabbed you by the throat from the start of Track 1, then this is it.
‘Vertigo’ is truly explosive.
Yet balance is quickly restored with ‘Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own’ and the concluding ‘Yahweh’
An album that brings together all that is good about U2 (thoughtful lyrics and memorable arrangements)
Stand-Out Track: City of Blinding Lights
Debut album from Tom Chaplin, Tim Rice-Oxley and co. Some great songs that bring the piano to the fore, my favourite being …
Stand-Out Track: Everybody’s Changing
Can’t ever really get past ‘Ordinary People’ with this one.
Stand-Out Track: Ordinary People
8 instrumental versions of tracks from ‘No Roots’ (plus ‘Blissy’s Groove’). I keep returning to this if I need something uptempo. Lots of great arrangements, often superior to the original (IMHO), as you can focus purely on the music without the distraction of the lyrics. Ideally needs to be played in one go to get the full effect of the mix
Stand-Out Track: Two
A couple of new tracks interspersed with old favourites re-imagined. Worth it just for the 5.1 sound.
